The locking action is controlled
by a F/N/R Cam Rod lifting the Reverse Lock Arm on the back of the
motor. This rod extends more/less upward depending on whether the motor
is in F/N/R. The plate on the Reverse Lock Arm is bent so that for the
tilt lock to be released, the Cam rod must be extended more when the
motor is turned to one side or the other. When the motor is positioned
such that the Cam Rod lifts the Reverse Lock Arm, the motor can be
tilted.
1. In Reverse the Cam Rod is fully retracted
and the motor cannot be tilted up in any position.se.
2. With the motor in neutral, the motor will tilt up when it is
almost exactly straight forward.
3. The motor will tilt up over a wider range of direction when it is
in forward gear.
4. The motor can be tilted in any gear/direction by manually lifting
the tilt lock cam plate.
5. There is a half-tilt position that can be used regardless of
the gear/direction of the motor.
