Joe Waters, Owner of
Waters Sails, and Don Carsten, Waters Sails
Representative, have teamed up to bring you this years
"Sail Fast" Seminar. To be held at the Jolly Roger
Sailing Club, 5961 Edgewater Dr, Toledo, OH 43611, On Saturday
March 3, 2007.
This is a full day seminar that will
include topics such as:

Mast Tuning (both Mast head and Fractional rigs)
-
Sail Trim (with demos of actual sails)
-
What to look for, and how to prepare for the regatta
-
Setting up, and understanding different Starting techniques
-
Sailing the course (First leg, Reaches, Downwind legs, and Finishes)
Joe Waters began sailing in 1962 at the
age of seven crewing on the family Lightning. By nine, he was
sailing El Toros, then Sunfish, Laser, Force 5 , etc.. In Joe's 42
years of sailing experience includes: being a member of the Citadel
Sailing Team, multiple national and mid-winters championships in the
Y-Flyer, Catalina 22, Capri 22, and JY 15. His professional
Career began with Helms Yachts before opening Waters Sails in 1985.
Our customers have taken national and mid-winters championships in
the Catalina 22, S2 7.9, Hunter 23.5, and Catalina 25 classes.
In 1993 he began working with the
Russian Olympic Sailing Team, and in 1995 he was the first ever non
Russian accredited to the Russian Sports Program by becoming a
valued member of the Olympic coaching staff. In the 1996
Olympic Games, Joe helped Russia take their first ever medal in
sailing, a silver in the Soling Class.
Today Joe's focus is on his sail loft,
The loft while specializing in high performance racing sails for
such One Design classes as J80's J24's J22, and Catalina 22,
Y-Flyer, S2 7.9 Raider, and PHRF sails, also produces affordable,
quality cruising sails, The loft also encompasses a full
service sailboat maintenance and repair facility.
The cost of the full day seminar will be
$75.00 per person, or a special rate of $35.00 for Junior sailors.
This includes a work book, Lunch at the club, and morning and
afternoon refreshments. The bar will be open in the afternoon.
