We are getting down to the last 30 days or so. Please let me know by
June 28th, if you are going to join us . This will give me time to lock
in the slips and make arrangements for our picnics etc.
I have enclosed an itinerary
with some of the details for our cruise. I will send a note to all
registered skippers in a week or so with some details on how to get to
Lexington MI. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a
note.
Please plan to be in the water in Lexington by 1 PM on Sunday, 20 July.
We need to leave Lexington on our convoy south to the end point about
that time in order to shuttle the tow vehicles and trailers down and
drive back to Lexington for the picnic. There will be plenty of help on
hand to get you rigged and ready, even if you arrive on Saturday.
We will plan to do a 'show and tell' one evening to
brag on the cruising improvements we have made to our boats and we will
do a Christmas in July/White elephant Gift Grab one evening also.
Limited to no more than $10.00
Be sure to check out
Dave Koz web site. Smooth Jazz on Wednesday evening under the
pavilion at Chene Park if you are inclined.
There is a great
packing list for cruising on the C22 web page, courtesy of Rich
Fox. If you follow that, you can't go wrong.
NOAA Recreational Chart 14853 is a chart book that covers everything
from Port Huron to Lake Erie. It DOES NOT have the short stretch on
each end from Lexington to about half way to Port Huron and the same on
the south end. It stops about 10 miles short of where we are going
(Toledo Beach Marina). There are other charts available from NOAA but
they really don't show those small portions unless you get the large
scale that are really too hard to read. For more info, see the
Charts page.
We will be generally headed down river but expect to sail 18+ miles each
day. On Tuesday, we have the longest stretch but the current for over
half the distance is >4 kts so it wont take all day.
I'm getting fired up and ready to go sailing. By then we will have good
weather in MI, pleasant company and great sailing for a week. What more
can you ask for?
See you soon
